Sirkazhi - Sattai Nadar temple

There are Hundreds of Ancient temple which are centuries old and have very interesting Historiacal stories attached to it which is also known as ‘Stala purana’.    One such temple is the Brahmapureeswarar temple in Sirkazhi.
Sirkazhi Brahmapureeswarar temple or also known as the Sattainathar temple is an ancient temple with 3 different Shiva sannidhis.

Brahmapureeswarar is in the ground floor level, Periyanayakar (also known as Thoniyappar) and Periyanayaki on a Thoni (in the Pralaya flooded waters) on the first floor level, Sattanathar or Vatukanathar is housed on the top most level.

This is a massive temple laid out in several acres of land.

According to the Stala puranam of this temple, the child Sambandar was fed milk (Gnyaanappaal) by Goddess Parvathi on the banks of this pond and from then on he became a prodigy and later known as “Thiru Gnyaana Sambandar”. He composed “Thevaaram”.
